Autumn Term 2016 News from the Chair

Governing Body Autumn Term 2016 News

This term there have been several changes to the governing body of Gisburn School.  Firstly, we would like to thank the outgoing Chair of Governors, Mr Allan Clements for his valuable contribution and leadership over the last 6 years.  Allan will continue to support Gisburn School on the Governing Body.  We welcome Mrs Kate Sherry as the new Chair – Kate has been Vice Chair for a year and a parent governor for 4 years.  After 4 years as a parent governor, Mrs Vanessa Robinson has been appointed the new Vice Chair and we welcome 2 new governors to our team, Mr Stuart Redman and Mrs Heather Windle.

The Governing Body have met 3 times this term; the Resources Committee and the Standards and Effectiveness Committee met in November and the Full Governing Body met in December.  In addition, nominated governors have visited school and governor reports have been received on Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), Governor Training, Mathematics and Special Educational Needs (SEN).  Several governors have completed online training and the chair has attended a Chairs’ Forum.

The primary school KS2 performance tables have recently been published and can be viewed on our school website.  Congratulations once more to all teaching staff and KS2 pupils who have achieved fantastic KS2 results.

Finally, we would like to take this opportunity to welcome the new reception children and their parents to Gisburn school.  We hope they have settled in well and have adjusted to school life.

Hope you have an enjoyable Christmas break and we look forward to seeing you in 2017!
