Spring/Summer Term 2019 News from the Chair

Summer Term News from the Governing Body…

The Governing Body of Gisburn School would like to congratulate staff and pupils alike on a very successful year.  It is testament to ALL staff and children who have worked extremely hard this year, that the school has continued to run smoothly and excellent results have yet again been achieved.   The highlight of the year was to achieve the well-deserved ‘outstanding’ grade as a result of the OFSTED inspection which we are all extremely proud of.   Therefore, we would like to take this opportunity to thank all staff and pupils for their hard work, enthusiasm and commitment over the last year.

We would like to wish Mrs Sandra Lund and Mrs Katrina Hartley all the very best in their retirement, Mrs Slater in her new job and send our best wishes to Mrs Heather Hartley for her maternity leave when it begins.

We would also like to thank FOGS for their continuous and highly successful fundraising which they provide for Gisburn School.  The huge amount of personal time donated by individual FOGS members is very much appreciated, and we are very grateful for the successful organisation of so many events and activities for the benefit of our school.  Their vital contribution towards the school’s finances mean that our pupils do not miss out on resources and experiences that they otherwise would.  Thank you also to all the parents who support FOGS by attending their events and donating to the school.

The governing body have met termly to attend the resources committee and the standards and effectiveness committee.  In addition, nominated governors have visited school and governor reports have been received on most subject areas and classes

We have welcomed a new Governor, Mrs Fiona Booth to the Governing Body and have said goodbye to Vanessa Robinson who has stood down this term.  We would like to thank Vanessa for all her valuable contributions to the Governing Body over the last few years.

Finally, we wish the year 6 pupils good luck in September when they transition to high school and all the best for their future.  We also look forward to welcoming the new reception children when we return after the Summer break.

Hope you have an enjoyable Summer holiday and we look forward to seeing you in September.
