Although your child will be taught to read at school, you can have a huge impact on their reading journey by continuing their reading practice at home.

The reading book will be carefully matched to the phonics stage that your child is working at. They should be able to read this book fluently and independently.

Listen to your child the book. Remember to give them lots of praise – celebrate their success! If they can’t read a word, help them to decode it using their phonics knowledge. After they have finished, talk about the book together. This book will be sent home every Friday once the three reading practice sessions have taken place in school.
